About Me

My name is Rob Brown and I am a BACP accredited counsellor in Westerham, near Sevenoaks and Oxted. I also provide online and telephone counselling.

With over 15 years' experience, I offer psychosynthesis counselling and also bring elements of CBT and solution-focused practice into my work.

My Approach

As a psychosynthesis counsellor my approach involves sensitively exploring issues through dialogue and, where appropriate, working creatively with guided visualisations, drawing, imagery and dreams.

I work in the way that best suits each individual and so my focus is less about techniques and more about the importance of the therapeutic relationship.

My initial aim is to enable people to gain an expanded awareness around difficult thoughts and feelings and how these might be holding them back. With increased awareness comes the possibility of thinking about ourselves and our lives differently, and making different choices in how to move forward.

Psychosynthesis is a holistic approach that seeks to integrate all parts of the personality. Psychosynthesis has a deeply affirmative perspective and honours each person on their journey towards living life more fully.

Together we would look at aspects of your past in order to understand issues you are facing now. Psychosynthesis is also about uncovering a sense of your purpose in life and, going forward, creating a more meaningful life.

I approach each person as a unique individual with a complex and particular history and work from this starting point with your feelings of unhappiness or dissatisfaction.

In helping clients to gain insight around their issues and to make changes, I have worked with people of all age groups, different sexual orientation, and from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds.
